AIRBOAT FAQs
How deep does the water have to be for an airboat?
Unlike a traditional watercraft that operates with a
submerged propellor, an airboat can operate in only a
few inches of water without scarring or damaging
the terrain and seagrasses.
Can an airboat really move over dry land?
Due to the force of the air moved by the propellors, an airboat can move over
land, but the hull can be damaged by the land surface. Plus we always want to
make sure we're not damaging grasses or other habitat.
Why is the engine on an airboat noisy?
Actually, the engine is not the source of noise... it's the propellor turning at
speeds of up to 3,000 rpms that emits most of the sound from an airboat.
What does the terrain look like that we will see from the airboat?
We are fortunate to be located in on the main island of the Ozello Keys. This
is a coastal area that offers a variety of wildlife and scenery from the palm tree
islands that dot the rivers to the mangrove islands that rim the edges of the
coast before giving way to the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. For pictures,
check out the Photo Gallery.
What kind of engine does your airboat have?
Our airboat has a 502 Chevrolet engine.
